CNC machining in Stainless steel
High tensile strength, corrosion and temperature resistant. Stainless steel alloys have high strength, ductility, wear and corrosion resistance. They can be easily welded, machined and polished.
Core Parameters and Main Application Industries of Stainless Steel
I. Core Parameters of Stainless Steel
1.Composition: Contains ≥10.5% chromium; nickel enhances the stability of the oxide film; molybdenum resists chloride pitting corrosion.
2.Strength: Tensile strength ranges from 300 to 1500 MPa (e.g., 304: 515 MPa; 440C: 1790 MPa after heat treatment).
3.Heat Resistance: Austenitic grades (304, 316) can withstand 800–1000°C; grade 310S can withstand up to 1200°C.
4.Machining: For grade 304, the cutting speed is 150–300 m/min; carbide/CBN tools are used, with high-pressure coolant of 100–300 bar.
II. Main Application Industries
Medical Industry: 316L is used for medical instruments/implants. Food Industry: 304/316L are used for food processing equipment.
Aerospace Industry: 316L/17-4PH are used for aerospace components.
Marine Industry: 316L/2205 are used for marine structural parts.
Industrial Machinery Industry: 440C is used for bearings.
Consumer Electronics Industry: 304 is used for device casings.
